Ember Schedule

Phew.. Been a while y'all 😊
2019 is rolling by as expected but there are still more things to look forward to from Marvel and DC for the remainder of the year, which is what this piece is about.

I'll be compiling a list of everything from live action movies and series to animated movies and series that have been scheduled between September to December for fans to see and enjoy.

SEPTEMBER

Titans S2
Premiere Date: September 6, 2019

First on the list from DC Universe is Titans. Now in its second season, the show is focused on a group of young heroes with different abilities. This season has an ensemble list of characters from DC which is something that fans are really looking forward to given the solid foundation the show established in its first season. Season One introduced the likes of Dick Grayson (Robin - Batman's first mentee), Rachel Roth (Raven), Kory Anders (Starfire), Garfield Logan (Beast Boy), Jason Todd (Robin - Successor to Dick Grayson), Donna Troy (Wonder Girl), Hawk, Dove etc. Season Two will introduce more characters like Connor Kent (Superboy), Slade Wilson (Deathstroke), Rose Wilson (Ravager), Joseph Wilson (Jericho), Bruce Wayne (Batman), Arthur Light (Doctor Light), Garth (Aqualad) etc.
If you watch Young Justice animated series, you will have more ideas of what to expect from this show plus seeing these wonderful characters in live action as an added advantage. Episodes will be released on a weekly basis starting from today. The first episode title is "Trigon", which is befitting considering what happened at the end of the last season.

Marvel's Spider-Man S2 (Second Half)
Premiere Date: September 8, 2019

Obviously an animated series that started in 2017, the show has gone on to introduce various elements at the core of Spider-Man not just as a character but as a fascinating story. Characters like Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy are given more attention compared to previous Spider-Man TV projects. And the second half of this current season will be focused on the "Superior Spider-Man" story-line, one in which Dr Octopus implanted his mind in Peter Parker's body trying to prove himself a better hero and person.

Pennyworth S1
(Been on since July 2019)

Batman fans will definitely know who has the surname "Pennyworth", a man who has been at Batman's side through the ups and downs, his best friend and butler - Alfred Pennyworth. There have been so many incarnations of this character in live action movies, animations and even in a TV series that ended earlier this year (Gotham). But this new take has a different focus to what we have been seeing. Six episodes have already been released and there are more to come this month. The show is set in the younger days of Alfred (1960s London), where he is forming his own security company and works alongside American agents, Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane (future parents of Bruce Wayne / Batman).

OCTOBER

Joker
Release Date: October 4, 2019

Something else Batman fans will instantly recognize 😂
Prior to the general belief that there shouldn't be an adaptation of certain characters that are villains, this movie will be setting off a lot of fireworks 🎆 in that direction. Set in 1981, focus is on a mentally ill, failed stand-up comedian who turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City. The movie has already premiered in Italy and has received positive reviews, even got a eight minute standing ovation. It's something to look forward to considering how iconic the character is and his adaptation in numerous DC publications.

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines
Release Date:
Digital (October 5, 2019) | Blu-ray (October 22, 2019)

If you thought Wonder Woman doesn't have a fair share of story-lines apart from the Justice League, well this animated movie is one of several options saying the opposite as well as a live action movie for Wonder Woman that will be released next year. Set in the adaptation of DC's New 52 animations and as a prequel to Justice League: War, it is kinda like the origin Wonder Woman story we know with a twist. Princess Diana decides to help a troubled young girl who has fallen in with a deadly organization known as Villainy Inc (a group of villains who battle Wonder Woman and will have their TV debut from this movie).

Supergirl S5
Premiere Date: October 6, 2019

Well well, if it isn't Kal-El's cousin 😉
New suit is nice, way better than the previous one 😏
Focus is on Kara and Lena's relationship which will endure a rocky turn after Lena learned from her brother (Lex), that Kara is Supergirl. Add that with the fact that Lex Luthor will be back as well as one of my favorite characters (Winn Schott).

Batwoman S1
Premiere Date: October 6, 2019

Lol.. How coincidental that this show's protagonist (Kate Kane) is a cousin to Batman just as Supergirl is to Superman. After making her debut in the Elseworlds crossover last year, she'll now go on in her series which is based on the Elegy story-line. She's regarded as a highly trained street fighter with a passion for social justice. This season also features the origin story of one epic Batman villain, Hush (Tommy Elliot). Lucius Fox's son, Luke Fox is also one of the main characters.

This year still has a lot of Batman related things to see. Contrary to most of the public belief that the show might suck, I won't be surprised if it's the opposite depending on how the show goes. It's really a great time to watch superhero fiction with the adaptation of women themed/led movies and shows and other adaptations of iconic villains, and there is still more to come 💯

The Flash S6
Premiere Date: October 8, 2019

Divided into two halves in which each will feature a "big bad", making two "big bads" for the season. Personally, I'd like to see more of a fascinating story-line in this season with the introduction of new characters and not a very predictable story-line based on previous characters. That said, Cisco Ramon will still be around this season, Wally West (Kid Flash) will be back and my favorite actor (Tom Cavanagh) in this show will be playing yet another new version of "Harrison Wells", one who has a major stake in the upcoming crisis.

Arrow S8 (Finale)
Premiere Date: October 15, 2019
Oliver Queen, man who channels his anger and hubris and calls it strength
- The Monitor.
CW's take on one of the underrated characters (Oliver Queen) in the DC Universe.
Started back in 2012 and became very iconic and popular for the superhero genre of TV series after Smallville. This season will be its final one (consisting of ten episodes) where Oliver will fight in a battle that will have the multiverse hanging in the balance all leading towards the next crossover. Focus is to round up the show in the best possible way, making references to previous seasons and giving Oliver a balanced end.

Watchmen S1
Premiere Date: October 20, 2019

Set in an alternative contemporary reality where masked vigilantes are outlawed due to their violent methods and some gather to start a revolution whereas some gather to stop it. The central focus seems to be on cops versus criminals with cops wearing masks so they won't be targeted in their off work hours. Doctor Manhattan, Silk Spectre and Ozymandias have been confirmed to appear.

Harley Quinn
Premiere Date: October 2019

Another Batman related character getting more attention in the DC universe. Known mostly as the Joker's partner-in-crime and psychotic girlfriend. This animated series features her adventures after breaking up with him, receiving help from her best friend, Poison Ivy and seeking to become a member of the Legion of Doom. Characters like Poison Ivy, Batman, Riddler, Clayface, King Shark, Robin, Lex Luthor, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, James Gordon etc have been confirmed to appear. The specific date in October is yet to be confirmed.

DECEMBER

Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover
December 2019 - January 2020

An anticipated multiverse crossover event between The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman as well as the inclusion of other characters like Black Lightning. It will consist of five parts, with the first three to be released on the 8th, 9th and 10th of December in the Supergirl, Batwoman and The Flash shows respectively. The last two parts will be released on the 14th of January 2020 in the Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow shows.

Taking the name from one of the biggest events in DC comics that involves the Monitor recruiting heroes from different universes against the threat of his cosmic counterpart, the Anti-Monitor (one of the strongest villains in the DC universe). It's going to be very complex considering the number of characters involved and the numerous story-lines CW has adapted in the related shows.

Marvel's Runaways S3
Premiere Date: December 13, 2019

Save the best for the last right? 😆
My most anticipated show for the year and favorite for superhero teen drama. Featuring a group of teenagers from a wealthy background who discover their parents are evil criminals, collectively known as the Pride. These teenagers decide to be on the run from their parents and live on their own. This season will feature a crossover with Cloak and Dagger, something to look forward to because of how interesting these characters are. The previous season ended with a cliffhanger whereas the fate of some of them are unknown like Chase and Karolina. The tides have changed as some of these evil parents have sided with the Runaways against their common enemy.

Wow! Quite the number for four months right.
You might wanna get your hard disk in good shape if you are interested in all these 😆
Till next time ✌

DC's Legends Of Tomorrow S04E14 - Nip/Stuck Review

Legends of Tomorrow has never been a TV show devoid of the action, comedy, really weird stuff and lots more. And their latest episode wasn't an exception..  Brandon Routh  delivered a wonderful acting performance as the demon (Neron) in Ray Palmer. I was so used to Ray being the funny and cool genius that seeing him all dark and evil was kinda surprising 😂 Neron also seems to have the ability to utilize his host's intelligence as he did with Ray in this episode. First, he takes John Constantine  to the ice age as bait for the legends to be trapped there. Then he sends Gary to the time bureau to distract them by nip-notizing them 😂 "Nip-notizing" - Gary had lost his nipple in the first episode when John Constantine sent the first magical creature (a unicorn) the legends encountered to hell. Neron restored this nipple which now has magical properties of hypnotism. So Gary used this to influence all the members of the time bureau to keep them distracted from Nero...

The Flash S05E21 - The Girl With the Red Lightning Review

Honestly, this was another 'mixed reaction' episode setting up a finale to look up to. Major events comes down to  Cicada II (Grace Gibbons) assembling some devices along with her infamous dagger to kill all the meta-humans in the city, and even the world at large. 😏 Team Flash tries to stop her from getting all these devices but they are unable to as she's a step ahead of them.  Barry and  Iris are forced to make a decision they don't like with their daughter ( Nora ) by allowing her to use her mind connection with Grace to get her current location. That was like their only option though because Grace had everything she needed to kill all the meta-humans. There was a little bit of a reference to the first incarnation of the Justice League animation where Wally West had to run a bomb the Joker planted in Gotham out of the city in less than a second - this time, Barry had to run out of a building that was about to explode in less than a second.. 😐 There's ano...
