Fiction Turf

Hey guys. I'd like to state my opinion on a topic in superhero fiction that is recurrent every now and then, which is why the title of this piece is a question. A question that has to do with one of the most popular superheroes who has numerous appearances in comic books, animated properties and live action adaptations. Personally, I think he is one of the most misunderstood superheroes as well. People generally have a way of summarizing things they have seen at one point in time or the other whether they are interested in it or not. For instance, if someone mentions a book or a movie you have read or seen before, you'd be inclined to pass your opinions on it. So when the word 'Superman' pops up, folks tend to go all 'meh, he's boring' Superman is referred to as a boring character because he seems very straightforward in the sense that his world isn't so deep or that intriguing or even relatable to the human society. It's basically this dude with pow...

It is well known that people fear what they don't understand. The X-Men stories have always portrayed that perfectly with the disdain of some humans towards mutants. Ever try to look at it from a 'reverse' perspective? People do not fear/take pleasure in/like what they understand. Same thing goes for either Marvel or DC or even both. In this context, it's not 'fear' but more like 'no interest'. There's a kinda popular theory among some fans that you have to choose between DC and Marvel. Now some people have genuine reasons for being a Marvel fan and not DC and vice versa. In the end, it all comes down to what you like. Might not even be the whole of Marvel or DC, it could be a specific show or the live action movies or the comics. But the idea that you have to choose which fictional universe to follow between Marvel and DC is a misconception. You don't have to. If you like both of them, cool and even if you don't, still cool. Personally...

Phew.. Been a while y'all 😊 2019 is rolling by as expected but there are still more things to look forward to from Marvel and DC for the remainder of the year, which is what this piece is about. I'll be compiling a list of everything from live action movies and series to animated movies and series that have been scheduled between September to December for fans to see and enjoy. SEPTEMBER Titans S2 Premiere Date: September 6, 2019 First on the list from DC Universe is Titans. Now in its second season, the show is focused on a group of young heroes with different abilities. This season has an ensemble list of characters from DC which is something that fans are really looking forward to given the solid foundation the show established in its first season. Season One introduced the likes of Dick Grayson (Robin - Batman's first mentee), Rachel Roth (Raven), Kory Anders (Starfire), Garfield Logan (Beast Boy), Jason Todd (Robin - Successor to Dick Grayson), Donna Tro...

Well, it happened.. An adaptation of one of Batman's interesting stories. And it really delivered right from the entire storyline with some changes to that of the comic to the voice cast's perfection. Now I knew they were not going to give us the exact thing page by page from the comic into scene by scene in the movie due to the differences in the universe the story is based on and the events that have happened before it. But the writers introduced a really nice alteration to the end of the movie, something we didn't get from the comic. A few hours before I saw the movie, I thought of something 🤔.. When I checked the Wikipedia page for the animated movie, I noticed that they revealed Thomas Elliot as Hush which is like a secret in the storyline. I kept wondering why they would spill such a secret but then again, it had already been spilled in the comic. Plus anyone can always get that information with a few surfing on the Internet. But I was thinking based on people ...

Wanted to write this ever since I read the comic book, then I'm online one day and I see the headline "Batman: Hush is getting an animated adaptation" , I was so ecstatic. Not just because I like Batman but because of the uniqueness of this story written by Jeph Loeb, penciled by Jim Lee, inked by Scott Williams and colored by Alex Sinclair from 2002 to 2003. I'm particularly fond of Jim Lee's art.. 😊😊 The comic book features an ensemble list of characters such as Batman, Catwoman, Alfred, James Gordon, Oracle (Barbara Gordon), Superman, Lois Lane, Nightwing, Robin, Huntress, Lex Luthor, Amanda Waller, Hush, Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Ra's al ghul, Talia al ghul, Lady Shiva, Killer Croc, Riddler and lots more. If you know DC to an extent, you'll know these are wonderful characters all pulled into one story. So how does all of this play out? Well, here's the link for the comic.. Hush is portrayed as a mysterious stalker who knows Batman...

Lol.. Am I on the side of the villains now? Well, it's all fiction for a reason.. Okay, on to the content of the above topic. Have you ever wondered how your favorite superhero movie would be if the villain was all dry, soft and boring? You will certainly not call it your "favorite" right? Now this isn't meant to disregard the good guys.. We have and will always love them for their actions and perspectives. But really, you just gotta appreciate the bad guys' performance even if the character is portrayed as the ultimate bad guy or a lackey or a sidekick or a minion or whatever he or she or it is called.. 😆 I'm going to make this very simply by comparing two superhero movies.. One from MCU and the other from DCEU : Avengers: Age of Ultron and Justice League . Now this is just my opinion about the villains in the story. The presence of Ultron , a peacekeeping intelligent system built by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner which turned out to be the opposi...
