Arrow S07E22 - You Have Saved This City Review

CW's Arrow is slowly fading away and that was pretty much sealed in the seventh season's finale. It was a great episode with action and emotion setting up the flash-forwards we've been seeing in style.

It started with Team Arrow having the deja vu experience of being "public enemy number one" and running away from the cops as they once did in Season 3. This episode marked the return of some certain individuals adding more loveliness to the season finale - Curtis Holt (Mr Terrific)Ben Turner (Bronze Tiger) and Laurel-2. The team focused on evacuating people from a public location in the city where the bio-weapon Emiko stole was to be used. This is where Ben Turner came in, bro had to punch a civilian who was being stubborn at Oliver and also said "he's trying to save you dumbass" 😆
The weapon was dispersed and although Oliver stopped the drones as fast as he could with his arrows, there were some casualties. Felicity and Curtis located the source of the bio-weapon which was at Palmer Tech (formerly Queen Consolidated, company of Oliver's family). Team Arrow headed there, fought off the Ninth Circle assassins and surprisingly received help from the police thanks to the testimony of a sergeant who didn't trust them before. Man had this funny way of expressing his distrust for them with his scary and weird expressions, and then he went all "you guys are heroes" 😆

Oliver confronted Emiko again and this time, he got through to her, stating that her hatred for their father and her allegiance to the Ninth Circle killed her mother. At first, she doesn't listen and even tries to activate the bio-weapon only to realize it has been sabotaged by Team Arrow. Virgil and a mysterious lady from the Ninth Circle show up after seeing Emiko reconcile with Oliver, they accuse her of exposing their actions and making them public for the first time. This leads to a fight scene where Emiko dies. Now, I think if the show wasn't fading away and we still had maybe one full season left, Emiko could have stayed with Oliver. It would have been really nice to see them (sibling archers) fight crime just like in the comics. Before she died, she told Oliver to hide Felicity and their baby because she had made sure they were going to die and I'm like "Oh great, here we go again" 😐

Oliver and Felicity decide to leave the city and their crime fighting life behind ("part of the show fading away"), which is also similar to how they left back in the finale of Season 3. Laurel returns to her world, Ben Turner decides to spend time with his son as he just got out of prison. Team Arrow share an emotional moment after saving the city for the nth time.. Oliver brings up the idea of having a symbol to act as a reminder for them that no matter the circumstances; if anyone bearing the symbol saw it somewhere else, they would all come together and be there for one another. Oliver called it the mark of four which represents the four pillars of heroism - courage, compassion, selflessness and loyalty. Oliver and Felicity begin their new life outside the city up till their daughter, Mia is born. And that was when it happened, we have had teases of information here and there mostly from the flash-forwards that Oliver Queen will die in the events of Season 8 (which will only consist of ten episodes). Back in the Elseworlds crossover event, Oliver made a deal with the cosmic being known as the Monitor to save the lives of Barry Allen (Flash) and Kara Danvers (Supergirl). Oliver had agreed to help the Monitor in preparing "whatever the multiverse requires to survive the crisis that is looming ". The Monitor confirmed that Oliver was destined to die in the battle to come but said that there was nothing he could do to prevent it and the most that could be hoped for was that Oliver's death might be used to save other countless lives. Honestly, I had prepared myself for this moment and it's a good end for Oliver considering that he birthed forth the Arrowverse, served as a source of inspiration for many people and has done so many heroic acts for seven seasons. It's quite fitting that he is the one that will sacrifice himself for the others.

The flash-forwards were rounded up nicely. They all managed to stop Kevin Dale from remaking Star City in the Glades' image by using a backdoor Felicity built into Archer (her daughter). Archer is an intelligent DNA tracking system that Felicity built but in a way that it won't track her daughter's DNA. So they used her as a means to upload a virus into Archer (which had been compromised by Kevin Dale) that shut down the Zetas ("sentinels") for the vigilantes temporarily. It was enough time for Mia to use her archery skills to destroy the program and stop Kevin Dale's plan for good. Roy, Rene, Dinah and Felicity hand over the crime fighting to their new generation of heroes (William, Mia, Connor and Zoe). William and Mia are children of Oliver and Felicity, Connor is Diggle's son and Zoe is Rene's daughter. At the end of the episode, Felicity decides to leave and takes her children to the graveyard of their Dad where that of Robert Queen and Emiko are also in display. Felicity tells them that she wanted to fulfill the promise she made to Oliver to protect their children and that she has now done that. Then Felicity meets with the Monitor and affirms her commitment to making a journey she can't return from and steps into a breach with the Monitor. Precisely where they went is open to interpretation, but it's presumed that wherever Felicity and Oliver wound up that they are together. All that remains now is to see how Oliver Queen dies a hero's death in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths event.

The seventh season of Arrow was really good
Started with Oliver in prison after he was forced to reveal his identity as the Green Arrow to the public. Then, he met his half sister who's the leader of the Ninth Circle, an organization he and his team had to stop their genocide plan for Star City and at the same time was dealing with some family issues.

It's safe to say..
Oliver Queen!
You Have Saved This City

DC's Legends Of Tomorrow S04E14 - Nip/Stuck Review

Legends of Tomorrow has never been a TV show devoid of the action, comedy, really weird stuff and lots more. And their latest episode wasn't an exception..  Brandon Routh  delivered a wonderful acting performance as the demon (Neron) in Ray Palmer. I was so used to Ray being the funny and cool genius that seeing him all dark and evil was kinda surprising 😂 Neron also seems to have the ability to utilize his host's intelligence as he did with Ray in this episode. First, he takes John Constantine  to the ice age as bait for the legends to be trapped there. Then he sends Gary to the time bureau to distract them by nip-notizing them 😂 "Nip-notizing" - Gary had lost his nipple in the first episode when John Constantine sent the first magical creature (a unicorn) the legends encountered to hell. Neron restored this nipple which now has magical properties of hypnotism. So Gary used this to influence all the members of the time bureau to keep them distracted from Nero...

The Flash S05E21 - The Girl With the Red Lightning Review

Honestly, this was another 'mixed reaction' episode setting up a finale to look up to. Major events comes down to  Cicada II (Grace Gibbons) assembling some devices along with her infamous dagger to kill all the meta-humans in the city, and even the world at large. 😏 Team Flash tries to stop her from getting all these devices but they are unable to as she's a step ahead of them.  Barry and  Iris are forced to make a decision they don't like with their daughter ( Nora ) by allowing her to use her mind connection with Grace to get her current location. That was like their only option though because Grace had everything she needed to kill all the meta-humans. There was a little bit of a reference to the first incarnation of the Justice League animation where Wally West had to run a bomb the Joker planted in Gotham out of the city in less than a second - this time, Barry had to run out of a building that was about to explode in less than a second.. 😐 There's ano...
