Well.. An end has come to the whole paradox with Team Flash, the Cicadas and Eobard Thawne.
One thing the show maintained throughout this season was its references to Season 1 in terms of words and action. Like Thawne deceiving Nora and training her just as he did for Barry.. Finally, Team Flash got Thawne's plan thanks to Ralph who had to take a hit from the "dagger-destroying gun" and Sherloque who did the explanation leaving the team with two choices: stopping Cicada or stopping Thawne. But as time will have it, Thawne's plan was somewhat inevitable and the dagger still had to be destroyed. I really liked Cicada's idea of going to the night of the particular accelerator explosion to kill all the meta humans before they got their powers, but that didn't happen π.. That could have been incorporated in one of the previous episodes though, if only πΆπ½.. Time travel has been one of the major elements of the show from the first season and seeing it being explored by the "bad guy" will be so much fun.
Okay, back to what actually happened π.. Team Flash's plan to stop Cicada and Thawne (all from Nora's idea) didn't work and that was where Barry was forced to destroy the dagger to save Nora from being killed by Cicada thereby releasing Eobard in the future. Tom Cavanagh for me has been an excellent actor for five seasons now playing different characters as the show progressed. And honestly, I prefer his version of Eobard Thawne. The way he talks, moves, acts is just so cool in depicting a very intelligent and evil speedster. A fight scene ensued between Team Flash and Thawne in which the latter lost thanks to some really good teamwork.. Thawne had earlier revealed that he came up with the plan after Barry and Nora came to him for help in the Time Vault (how ironic). And he also mentioned that the legacy of the Flash is that he will always vanish no matter what Nora tries (a reference to the fact that the Flash is usually a casualty in all of DC comics multiverse-altering crises). Turns out Nora was going to be erased from history because of the dagger's destruction all due to Thawne's timeline manipulation. That adds it up for the paradox though - Nora altered the timeline when she punched Devoe's satellite in the fourth season's finale and all of that chapter was closed when Barry destroyed the dagger plus she isn't from their own time period.. So yeah, Nora was going to be erased from the timeline, something Thawne knew from the start π
And Thawne just had to tease the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event by saying "See you in our next "crisis".. Watching CW for years now, that's no coincidence or just an ordinary teaser. Plus the time flux at the very end of the episode where the year on the news article (stating that Barry vanished in a crisis) moved like a sort of "for loop in action" π from 2024 to 2019.
The episode ended well with Cisco taking the metahuman cure (meaning no more Vibe), Barry and Iris watching a last message from Nora, Joe being captain of CCPD, Singh revealing that he knew Barry was the Flash, Ralph returning to his PI work on a case involving someone called Deardon (a reference to Ralph's wife in the comics) which would be really nice to see considering Ralph's relationship talk throughout this season, he even wrote a book π. Sherloque reuniting with his new wife in another world and Caitlin checking out a suit Cisco made for her and Killer Frost.
Well.. All said and done. Nice seasons from the arrowverse π―
Next up.. "Let the crisis begin" π
